Church Secretary

 

Being a ministry assistant is usually seen as a job. It is more than that! It is a "calling". This role is gravely important to the over-all ministry of the church. The ministry assistant serves as an enabler meaning this person enables the church staff, pastors and leaders to carry on their individual ministries. Her duties include general administrative and clerical duties necessary to run the church effectively daily. A sample description of her job includes:

  • Working closely with the pastor and leaders to carry out special projects and activities for all the church's nine (9) ministries. These projects and activities include: church anniversary, family conference, women, men and youth conferences, church directory, mission trips and more.
  • Handling correspondences and scheduling appointments for: baptisms, funerals, weddings, speaking engagements on behalf of the pastor.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date directory and record of the church members: contact information, birthdays and anniversaries, baptisms, spiritual gifts and talents, contributions and more.
  • Providing monthly financials reports in accordance with standards set by government officials such as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
  • Disseminating information by using the telephone, mail services, web sites, and e-mail.

The Lord has guided sister Stephanie Deshommes to this ministry since December 2007 after she joined Bethel family through baptism in October 2006. She has also been actively participating in many different ministries as a youth leader, worship team and orchestra member, bookstore administrator, summer camp (VBS) coordinator and supervisor. Stephanie is a very talented and gifted person, and she has never stopped using her gifts to please the Lord and to serve the people around her. She is really a blessing to all of us at the church.
